Before we begin, please understand that I have not seen the 1999 version of Hunter x Hunter as seen on Anime Planet. With that said, it was suggested to me by friends that I should make sure to see the 2011 Hunter x Hunter. The first episode was released by Crunchyroll on 10/1/2011. I finally got to watch it tonight, so I wanted to share my thoughts.

With the understanding that I don’t know the premise, I found myself lacking an understanding of what Hunter x Hunter is about. I will say, I was able to figure out that it was a Shounen where a boy sets out in an unknown world. I enjoyed reading a comment that was on Crunchyroll that made me laugh.

That being true, I still enjoyed the first episode. The art style and music was definitely that of a newer age anime. The lead character Gon was lovable, heroic, and enjoyable.

I believe this is one series I’ll be sticking with.
